One thing I often do in my practice is help parents understand how children think, feel, and behave differently at each developmental stage. We cannot and should not expect children to operate like adults. They are not miniature adults. This video shows a 3-5 year-old children in what Piaget called the pre-operational stage (typically ages 3–7). At this stage, children can focus on only one striking feature of a situation at a time. Their decisions are driven by what is most perceptually obvious

Could this be what’s replacing The Victoria in Santa Monica once it closes at the end of the month? There’s definitely potential as many aspects line up but not a guarantee. What do you think and are you okay with the location becoming a private members club or should it stay open to the public? #losangeles #santamonica #privatemembersclub #pool

One of the aspects of miniature painting that we really like to explore is surface finish variation. Essentially, it means how surfaces reflect light. This goes from powdery and matte to high gloss. We can, for example, use an old bottle of enamel that dries powdery to create an effect of dried dirt and filth, while using streaks of super glue or gloss varnish for sweat, ichor, or any kind of liquid, really.
