What are some of your favorite encores? Here's a fun one - Brahms’ Hungarian Dance #5 (arranged by Joseph Joachim), played with my great friend and phenomenal pianist Andrew Armstrong, from a performance at Wigmore Hall in London in November ‘21. There are 21 of these Hungarian Dances, which Brahms wrote/arranged in the 1860’s and 1870’s (and which were all arranged by Joachim for violin and piano). I love them all, but this one is one of my very favorites! | James Ehnes

The gorgeous Sarabande from JS Bach’s 2nd Partita. Bach was primarily a keyboard player, but was also, by all accounts, an extremely fine violinist. 300 years later, his solo Sonatas and Partitas are still in many ways the ultimate violinistic challenge! | James Ehnes
