Deleting the settings in the registry made my Acrobat Reader respond normally again. Jul 30, 2017 · Adobe Acrobat Reader was set as the default application for pdfs. This was a new version of Acrobat Reader ver 23.6.20320.0. What fixed this was Opening Acrobat Reader and going into the Menu (3 horzontial lines upper left corner) and then select "Disable new Acrobat Reader" then 'Restart" Acrobat Reader when prompted.

Here's how: 1- open the one-page .pdf in a browser; I used MS-Edge. 2- right-click on the .pdf and choose print. 3- Select Microsoft Print to PDF as your printer and specify 2 copies. 4- specify the page range 1,1. 5- hit the print button. 6- Save the resulting .pdf as a new file.
