My name is Carrie Patel, and I’m the author of The Buried Life, a science fantasy mystery set in the underground city of Recoletta, and Cities and Thrones, the sequel. I also work full-time as a narrative designer for Obsidian Entertainment, where I’ve written for Pillars of Eternity as well as the upcoming expansion, The White March .

Carrie Patel was number 2 on Deadfire. Other than Josh Sawyer, she’s the most qualified to lead Avowed.

Carrie Patel was the lead narrative designer on the Peril on Gorgon DLC which reined in some of the goofier comedic elements of Outer Worlds to tell a dark gothic mystery story that doesn't flinch away the more fucked up implications of the game's setting. this is really nice to hear.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Carrie Patel explained that the stories are "as separate as the continents they take place on", and that the changes set into motion by the god Eothas at the end of Deadfire "slowly change the world over generations, not overnight."
