T.J. Watt may finally be close to getting the contract he has wants from the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Wednesday, during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter confidently stated that Watt will soon be one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and T.J. Watt are stuck at a crossroads with their contract negotiations as Watt enters the last year of his deal. After Myles Garrett’s market-shattering $40 million per year deal with the Cleveland Browns in March, that threw off the calculus for Watt’s deal.

ESPN's Adam Schefter joined The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday to update the negotiations. "T.J. Watt is gonna get a strong deal from the Pittsburgh Steelers," Schefeter said. "... Both sides are working to make it happen and T.J. wants to make sure that he gets rewarded in an appropriate way."
