Minnesota state Sen. Nicole Mitchell has resigned from office one week after she was found guilty on both charges in her burglary trial. Mitchell announced her resignation in a Facebook post on Friday afternoon.

Sen. Nicole Mitchell, a Woodbury Democrat who was found guilty of first-degree burglary, will resign from the Minnesota Senate, her attorney said.

Sen. Nicole Mitchell was convicted of two counts of felony burglary related to a break-in at her stepmother's house in Detroit Lakes.
