The head of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Stephanie Pope, met the chairman of Air India on Monday in India, two sources said, as the companies seek to find the cause of last week's fatal crash involving a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
A catastrophic crash involving Air Indias Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in Ahmedabad killed 241 people and injured dozens on the ground. The incident has prompted Indias aviation regulator to order urgent inspections across the airlines Dreamliner fleet.
The trade event is a big draw for the industry every year, as Boeing, Airbus and other aerospace giants host parties, sign deals and show off new aircraft.
Boeing was generating optimism. Then on Thursday a 787 crashed, raising the specter of fresh problems for Boeing and altering the message it planned to send.
The crash happened just weeks after the company cut a deal with the U.S. government to avoid taking criminal responsibility for a pair of deadly crashes in 2018 and 2019.
