The surprise and swift leadership shakeup comes just days after another big TelevisaUnivision announcement: the departure of longtime news anchor Jorge Ramos.

Televisaunivision is going to have a new boss in the morning. In a move that surprised some and seemed only a matter of time to others, Wade Davis is out as CEO and Daniel Alegre is taking over the Spanish-language media empire on September 19.

Wade Davis is no longer the Chief Executive Officer of TelevisaUnivision, the company announced early Thursday, after reports in The New York Times and Reuters distributed Wednesday evening cited unnamed sources close to the matter that a change in leadership was imminent.
