President Trump said he and Vladimir Putin agreed Thursday, Oct. 16 to meet in Budapest to work on an agreement to end Russia's war in Ukraine.

Ukraine's leader will meet Trump in Washington a day after the US president agreed to face-to-face talks with his Russian counterpart.

Hungary will ensure that Russian President Vladimir Putin can enter the country for a summit with U.S. President Donald Trump planned in Budapest and return home afterwards, Hungary's Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Friday.

At the White House, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine made the case for why a weapons sale would help end the war. Mr. Trump at first seemed receptive, then expressed reservations.
