Troufanov, 29, was kidnapped from his parents' home in the border kibbutz of Nir Oz on Oct. 7, 2023. His mother Yelena, grandmother Irena and partner Sapir were also kidnapped, but released in a November 2023 prisoner swap deal. His father, Vitaly, was killed in the attack.

The United States said Tuesday that Israel was not violating US law on the level of aid entering Gaza even as aid agencies said it was still not enough.

"We, at this time, have not made an assessment that the Israelis are in violation of US law," said U.S. State Department Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel on Tuesday. This statement came as the deadline for the ultimatum given by the United States to Israel regarding the improvement of the situation of civilians in the Gaza Strip expired.
