When reality becomes stranger than satire, maybe the satirists can teach us something. The Onion confirmed on Thursday that its parent company bought Infowars, the disgraced purveyor of Sandy Hook misinformation and vendor of pseudoscience supplements.

Satirical news site The Onion won the auction to acquire conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ Infowars, which was sold off as part of a defamation settlement after he falsely called the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre a hoax.

Don’t expect the new owners of Infowars to make it any more truthful. Beloved satire website the Onion bought Alex Jones’s misinformation hub in a bankruptcy auction, the New York Times reports. The Onion and parent company Global Tetrahedron now plan to reintroduce Infowars in January as a parody of misinformation and conspiracy platforms.
