Artillery ammunition manufactured in India is being diverted to Ukraine "despite protests from Moscow," Reuters reported on Sept. 19, citing customs data and nearly a dozen Indian and European government and defense industry officials.

India’s arms export regulations prohibit unauthorised transfers, but violations appear to have occurred as European nations like Italy and the Czech Republic purchased shells from India and supplied them to Ukraine.

Emphasising that the Ukraine conflict cannot be settled through military means, External Affairs Minister stated that Russia and Ukraine need to engage in negotiations. He added that India is ready to offer advice if needed.

India has “a four-point principle” towards the resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, said EAM S. Jaishankar during his recent visit to Germany. He said that “suggestions have been made” for India to host a peace conference on the issue, but made no commitment on whether India would in fact forward any peace proposal of its own.

India's diplomatic efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war have gathered pace. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is travelling to Russia and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the US after that.
