Marco Sturm brings a good resume, relationship with the team and positive attitude to Boston. What he needs most, though, are forwards.

Marco Sturm is coming back to TD Garden. After an exhaustive search, the former Bruins forward has been named the franchise’s 30th head coach. Boston was the final team to fill their head coaching vacancy this offseason.

Sturm, 46, comes to the Bruins after three seasons as head coach of the AHL’s Ontario Reign. During his 15-year playing career, Sturm played for Boston from 2005-2010.
