Tens of thousands of people flocked to the Vatican for the funeral of Pope Francis. The beloved pontiff, the first Latin American pope in history, died earlier this week at the age of 88.

When Pope Francis died on Monday, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered that flags be lowered to have staff. Abbott's order remains in effect until sunset Saturday, after Francis was buried at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome.
