Legendary soul singer Sam Moore died on Jan. 10, according to multiple reports. He was 89. Moore reportedly died from complications while recovering from a surgery. Moore was best known as one-half of the R&B group Sam & Dave. His partner in that group, Dave Prater, died in 1988.

Sam Moore of Sam & Dave called Scottsdale home for 30 years. His friend Alice Cooper says, "There's a Phoenix family and he was certainly part of it."
