The Royals re-signed right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen to a one-year, $7 million deal on Monday, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The deal also includes a second-year mutual option for $12 million. The Royals acquired Lorenzen in July from the Texas Rangers in exchange for Walter Pennington.

Michael Lorenzen is a journeyman pitcher, but at 33 years old he's far from washed and he has the stuff to be a valuable part of anyone's rotation.
The 33-year-old was acquired by Kansas City in a trade with Texas just before the deadline last July and became a dependable part of the pitching staff down the stretch.
