The 1 train is experiencing significant delays Tuesday afternoon due to reports of smoke inside the station, according to the MTA.

New Yorkers weren’t be able to ride the 1 train between 145th Street and 215th Street on Tuesday after a fire broke out at the 191st Street station in Washington Heights, injuring more than a dozen people, authorities said.

Multiple commuters at an NYC train station suffered minor injuries from smoke. Some had to be treated at local hospitals, the FDNY said.

An unknown object made contact with the third rail, creating sparks and a "smoke condition," FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief Mike Woods.

The New York City Fire Department says they were called to 191st Street and St. Nicholas Avenue at around 12:50 p.m. for reports of smoke in the station.
