Despite being on a seven-game win streak and 3-0 in Big Ten play, Tom Izzo sees areas where No. 14 Michigan State basketball must improve in a hurry.

Tom Izzo spent Friday night coaching Michigan State to a win at Ohio State. With the team off Saturday, he headed to Chicago to watch the No. 1 Spartans skate to a 4-3 overtime win against Wisconsin at Wrigley Field.

Michigan State (12-2, 3-0 Big Ten) won both of its games last week to push its winning streak to seven games, downing Western Michigan, 80-62, at home to close out 2024 and Ohio State on Friday night in Columbus, 69-62. Michigan State is back home Thursday, facing Washington.

Tight end Mason Mini announced his commitment to transfer to the Spartans via social media. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound product of California played for Idaho in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision the past two seasons. He has three years of eligibility remaining.

Former BYU linebacker Aisea Moa is transferring to Michigan State football. He is the Spartans' 14th portal addition of 2025.
