British pop culture missed out on a power couple of epic proportions when Harry Styles reportedly ghosted Jade Thirlwall. The former X Factor icons went on a date before their careers really took off but romance wasn’t on the cards for this chart-topping duo.

The pair met while auditioning for music competition show, The X Factor. Although Thirlwall is primarily known for winning as a member of Little Mix in 2011, she initially auditioned the year prior. At that time, a young Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne nearly swept the competition as One Direction.

Suffice to say, Jade Thirwall and Harry Styles weren’t written in the stars. While serving as a guest on Louis Theroux’s podcast episode posted Tuesday (Jan. 21), the Little Mix star reflected on meeting the One Direction alum during their early days on The X Factor, revealing that they went on one date before a certain teen heartthrob ghosted her.

Harry Styles and Jade Thirlwall's romance was short-lived. During a guest appearance on the Monday, January 20, episode of "The Louis Theroux Podcast," the Little Mix member recalled crushing on Styles when they both auditioned for and competed on X-Factor in 2010.
