Officials say the two biggest wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area this week have burned at least 10,000 homes, buildings and other structures

Some fires burning across Los Angeles County have begun to be put out, but one of the biggest blazes is still burning uncontained.

The Eaton Fire was first reported around 6:30 p.m. local time near the eastern Los Angeles suburb of Altadena, according to KTTV and CBS News. It has since set 1,000 acres ablaze and remains at 0% containment, according to Cal Fire.

Some are carrying their valuables with them, but this devastating situation has even brought several people down to San Diego. So far as of Thursday night, 13,690 acres burned in the Eaton Fire, displacing hundreds of people on the eastside.

Five people have died as the Eaton Fire continues to burn through Pasadena and the areas near the Angeles National Forest.

The death toll from the multiple fires raging across Los Angeles County rose to 10 on Thursday night, as the largest of the five blazes—the Palisades Fire—grew to cover nearly 20,000 acres as strong winds meant the “Red Flag” fire weather conditions will remain in effect until Friday evening.

A brush fire broke out Tuesday near the Pacific Palisades, a coastal neighborhood on the west side of Los Angeles, and quickly exploded.

President Joe Biden announced Thursday the federal government will cover 100% of the disaster response to the Los Angeles fires for the next six months as first responders continue to battle the Palisades and Eaton fires following the successful containment of a fire that burned through the Hollywood Hills on Wednesday night.
