All New York City Ferry service was suspended as of 2 p.m. Tuesday because of ice in the East and Hudson rivers and across New York Harbor.

On Jan. 25, 1821, The New York Times reported that people were commuting across the frozen Hudson by walking and even skating between Manhattan and Jersey City.
