President Joe Biden’s administration is seeking more than $98 billion in emergency disaster relief funding from Congress to address the devastation from recent back-to-back hurricanes that hammered the US southeast and left billions in damage.

The Biden administration is sending a roughly $100 billion request to Congress to help Americans impacted by a series of major and record-breaking natural disasters in 2023 and 2024, including Hurricanes Helene and Milton,

The largest chunk of funding — about $40 billion — would be for FEMA's disaster relief fund, so that it has enough money to last through the coming year. But there are requests for 16 agencies.
