Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that Florida and the U.S. Army have reached a new agreement to accelerate Everglades restoration through expediting the completion of the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir.

Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an agreement on Friday with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to speed up Florida Everglades restoration projects, including completion of the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir.

The governor's office said he would be joined by Acting Assistant Secretary of the Army D. Lee Forsgren, and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Alexis Lambert.

The agreement allows the South Florida Water Management District help with construction - but not take over - to finish the EAA Reservoir by 2029.

DeSantis also highlighted the state’s announcement earlier this month that 71% of all graded schools were rated ‘A’ or ‘B,’ up from 64% the previous year.
