NASCAR legend and GM dealer Rick Hendrick bought the first ZR1. While it rounds out his massive Corvette collection, that's not why he bought it.

Johnson to add another Corvette first to his collection, this time paying 3.7 million for the first 2025 ZR1 produced.

Hendrick bought the first C8 Corvette for $3 million, and the first C8 Corvette Z06 for $3.6 million, both considerable premiums for a car that starts at $68,300. Barrett-Jackson, which put on the auction, said that the $3.7 million for the latest first Corvette would go to the American Red Cross and auction fees would be waived.

VIN 001 was auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, and it only took a few minutes from when bidding opened to when the gavel was struck and Hendrick declared the winner. The American businessman who owns Hendrick Motorsports has a habit of snapping up the first production units of each C8 Corvette.
