BOSTON — For weeks, the Red Sox have remained somewhat cagey when it comes to the question of Rafael Devers’ positional future. On Saturday, though, manager Alex Cora offered the most definitive answer yet.

Crochet held New York scoreless over a career-high 8 1/3 innings, striking out the Yankees slugger three times while holding the rest of New York’s lineup to four hits with seven total Ks.

Aaron Judge is off to a scorching start in the 2025 MLB season, powering the Yankees to a 42-26 record heading into Saturday night’s matchup in Boston.

The Reds swung a trade on Saturday by acquiring right-handed pitcher Brian Van Belle from the Red Sox for cash considerations. Cincinnati optioned Van Belle to Triple-A Louisville and now have a full 40-man roster.

The New York Yankees ended their loss against the Boston Red Sox in terrible fashion. After heading into extra innings, the team was on the wrong end of two rough calls by the umpire, both of which could have had different outcomes,

“Similar to Caballero the other day,” manager Alex Cora said. “They took a chance. They’re really good at what they do base running-wise. Volpe with the hop-hop and he goes. But Narvi, he made a great throw. He actually talked with Whit when he came in. Kind of like, ‘Hey, you have to mix up your looks and you’ve gotta be quick the plate.’”
