The sweeping order affects all US government buildings including those overseas and carries heavy repercussions for employees if not followed

During Biden’s administration, several embassies took advantage of his policy. For instance, the U.S. Embassy in Nassau flew a Pride flag to celebrate Pride month in 2021 and the U.S. Embassy and Consulates in Brazil flew a Black Lives Matter flag to celebrate Black history month in 2022.

All flags other than the U.S. flag have been banned at government facilities domestically and abroad under a new anti-DEI policy from the Trump administration.

The administration of President Joe Biden reversed Trump’s ban on rainbow flags at embassies. Biden’s Secretary of State Antony Blinken told American embassies and diplomatic missions that they can fly the Pride flag again as well as “other symbols connoting support for LGBTQ rights based on what is ‘appropriate in light of local conditions.’”

No flags other than that of the United States (and two others related to the country’s military) are to be flown or displayed at any of the country’s embassies or outposts, according to a new policy ordered by President Donald Trump and implemented by the State Department.
