The eruptions of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara province forced the cancellation of more than 160 flights to and from Bali between Nov. 4 to Nov. 13, with 91 flights halted on Wednesday, the most in one day, said Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, general manager of Bali's Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar.

JAKARTA (Reuters) - The Indonesian government plans to permanently relocate thousands of residents after a series of eruptions of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano which killed nine people and damaged thousands of houses, officials said.

Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki has erupted again, spewing a column of hot clouds from its peak three days after a midnight eruption killed nine people and injured dozens of others.

The eruptions of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara province led to the cancellation of over 160 flights to and from Bali between Nov. 4 and Nov. 13, with 91 flights suspended on Wednesday alone – the highest in a single day.

The volcanology agency said it was keeping the highest alert status for the volcano, which remains very active.

Indonesia’s Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted again on November 7, spewing a 2,500 metre high column of hot ash, just three days after a midnight eruption killed nine people and injured 64 others.
