The judge overseeing the Karen Read trial denied a motion filed by Read’s defense Monday morning to amend the verdict slip given to the jurors. The motion asked Judge Beverly Cannone to give the jury a new slip for one of the three charges Read faces in connection with the death of her boyfriend,

Read is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence, and leaving the scene of a crash resulting in injury or death.

The jury will return to the deliberations it began Friday afternoon following closing arguments and instructions from Judge Beverly Cannone.
