Parts of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties are being affected by the fire, and all other evacuation orders and road closures are still in effect. So far, one zone in SLO County remains under evacuation warning, while many others now fall under evacuation order.

A massive wildfire in Santa Barbara County has scorched nearly 50,000 acres, prompting hundreds of evacuations. The Gifford Fire, captured by UC San Diego’s ALERTCalifornia cameras, continues to grow rapidly across the Carrizo Plain hills.

Smoke filled the air Sunday as the Gifford Fire continued to burn close to Highway 166 and residential areas. Scott Safechuck with Santa Barbara County Fire says that hot, dry, windy conditions are contributing to the fire's growth. As of Sunday morning, hundreds of residences were threatened.
