A FIRST ALERT as a few stronger storms will be possible during the afternoon and night Saturday, with the primary threats being damaging wind gusts and large hail. The tornado chance is low but not zero.
FIRST ALERT: Tracking weekend rain, storm potential
Sunday will start off quiet, but mild. A line of heavy rain and gusty winds may cross the region from west to east through the afternoon. There’s a low-end chance of localized, strong to severe storms as the front crosses. Right now, the great risk appears to be strong winds.

An approaching low pressure system will make for a rainy and windy night in the Mid-South with up to an inch of rain possible for many areas including Memphis. Another system will bring more rain and possibly strong storms to the Mid-South Saturday followed by a mild and calmer pattern to end the year.

As we head to the weekend, rain returns to the forecast. Scattered showers start up Friday, but it won’t be a washout at all. It will be much cooler though. Highs only warm to the mid 40s for Friday afternoon.
