Bay Village High School sophomore Dylan Veselic, 16, was playing against Olmsted Falls on Tuesday night when a ball struck him at the base of the back of his head when he attempted to block a shot, according to WKYC, citing witnesses.

Dylan Veselic, a 16-year-old sophomore at Bay Village High School, was injured during a lacrosse game on May 6 in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, the Bay Village School District told USA TODAY. He passed away the morning of May 8.

Bay High School has canceled a Friday lacrosse game against Clay High School. The move follows the death of Dylan Veselic, a sophomore who suffered a fatal injury on the lacrosse field while playing for Bay.
