Novak Djokovic was in no doubt when choosing who is better out of French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz and world number one Jannik Sinner. On Sunday (June 8 ), Alcaraz, 22, and Sinner, 23, played out a gruelling five-hour and 29-minute-long French Open final which saw the Spaniard come out on top at Roland-Garros.

The 2025 French Open may go down as the official starting point for a new era of men's tennis. It will be the first meeting in a grand slam final between the sport's two ascendent stars: Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.

Djokovic produced the Grand Slam peak that has been the trademark of his late career, but Sinner was a mountain too high to climb.
