GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Jurors in the Christopher Schurr murder trial said Tuesday, May 6, that they are deadlocked. Kent County Circuit Judge Christina Mims brought jurors to the courtroom after they sent a note to the court.

A jury in Michigan is struggling to reach a verdict in the murder trial of a police officer who shot a Congolese immigrant after a routine traffic stop.

Former Grand Rapids police Officer Christopher Schurr is on trial in the death of Patrick Lyoya, a 26-year-old Congolese immigrant who was shot and killed by the officer three years ago.
