Two Sydney Thunder players, Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams, collided head on while going at full pace in opposite directions trying to position themselves under a high ball in the field.

Cameron Bancroft’s BBL season is over after the Sydney Thunder opener suffered a fractured nose and a fractured right scapula in his horror collision with teammate Daniel Sams.

Daniel Sams was taken off the pitch on a stretcher on Friday, after a nasty collision with teammate Cameron Bancroft during a Big Bash League game. The Sydney Thunder pair were in action against the Perth Scorchers when they chased the same ball,

There's been a horrendous collision and it's uh Cam Bancroft and Daniel Sams, and there'll be concern here and some time out of the game. Both players fully committed to the ball. Eyes on it, didn't see each other coming. This is what you don't want to see. And uh Medical staff out there.

“Sydney Thunder players Daniel Sams and Cameron Bancroft will both be released from hospital this afternoon, following injuries sustained in last night’s exciting victory over the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium,” the club wrote.

Cameron Bancroft has been ruled out of the remainder of the BBL with a broken nose and shoulder while Daniel Sams faces at least 12 days out of action under concussion protocols following the scary on-field collision at Optus Stadium on Friday night.
