New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed that he selected Jerod Mayo as the team's replacement for legendary former head coach Bill Belichick

Robert Kraft revealed that he started planning for Jerod Mayo to be Bill Belichick's successor a lot earlier than we all thought.

Bill Belichick is spending the 2024 season out of the NFL. He should be a coveted coaching option during the 2025 offseason.

Mayo was drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft and has spent his entire playing career in Foxborough up until his retirement following the 2015 season. He then joined New England's coaching staff as the inside linebacker coach in 2019, so he has been around the organization and Kraft for nearly two decades.

Both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick began new careers in the media this year. The former New England Patriots coach has a slew of gigs including being a recurring guest on the “ManningCast,” “The Pat McAfee Show” and having his own show, “Coach With Bill Belichick” on Underdog Fantasy.

Not featuring a coaching search this year, the Patriots have still not conducted a true hunt for their sideline leader
